BLUE ANGELS AIR SHOW PHOTOS JACKSONVILLE FL

Blue Angels Jacksonville FL Every two years, the Jacksonvile Naval Air Station hosts the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels were founded here and there's always a big turnout even on a cloudy day. Low cloud cover forced the Angels to switch their normal routine.

Most of our family went by boat, anchoring out in the St. Johns River in front of the Base. Hundreds of families were there enjoying the day and watching the show.Blue Angels Jacksonville FL

Frank's sister and her husband had VIP tickets and met the only living original member of the 1946 Blue Angels. He and his wife were flown in from California to join us. They commented on how friendly everyone here was and how glad they were to be here.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet them.

Right at the end of the show, the clouds began to break, moving across the sky.Blue Angels Jacksonville FL

None of these photos were retouched and my camera did not have any filters on it. That said, we were so thrilled with some of the shots, especially the one that shows the sky breaking and the reflection in the water.

Blue Angels Show at Jacksonville NAS Sat. and Sun. Oct. 25 & 26

Don't miss the Blue Angels at Jacksonville Naval Air Station this Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Angels were founded at Jax NAS after World War II and continue to perform here every other year in October.

Blue Angels Jacksonville, FLWatch them from the runway or by boat, either way it is thrilling. If you live close by, you can hear them/see them flying by on Thursday. My husband saw the Blue Angels flying over as he was driving down Highway 17 near the base today. Fridays they traditionally do a rehearsal show, weather permitting.

The Blue Angels originated in Jacksonville. The first show was at Craig Field at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL on June 15, 1946. The name originated from the famous Blue Angels nightclub in New York. One of the early planes sits at the main gate of Jacksonville Naval Air Station today.

If you plan to drive, be early. You will be admitted to the base and directed to parking. Prepare to walk a considerable distance and bring chairs, sunscreen, and hats. Complimentary ear plugs are provided. There are food, drinks, beer, and lots of t-shirts, and other memorabilia for sale. Our favorite souvenirs are the umbrellas you can attach to your chair. It can be very hot out on the runway.

The show starts at 10am and the Blue Angels perform at 3pm each day.

Eagle Harbor Exciting Landscaping Announcement!

Eagle Harbor Flowers at Swim ParkJim Proctor of Tree Amigos is back at the helm of Eagle Harbor Landscaping. Eagle Harbor, located on Fleming Island in Clay County, FL won so many awards for its community and environmental use of the land that eventually the developer bowed out so other communities could win. Jim was the original head of landscaping who planned and planted the lovely beds we have enjoyed for the last 15 years.

After 10 years working with East West Partners, Jim decided to pursue the American Dream and opened The Tree Amigos Outdoor. His relationship continued with East West and he still works for them today on projects.

The great news is he's back! Jim is very particular and has plans to improve the already beautiful flower beds and landscaping Eagle Harbor residents enjoy. You may have noticed his team of 15-20 workers at the entrance working in the bushes all the way to the Swim Park pruning and clearing out unwanted vines creeping through the branches. He told me that was out of his pocket. That is how committed he is personally to keeping and improving the lush, manicured and natural looks that make Eagle Harbor so appealing.

Jim is an Eagle Harbor resident and has a degree in Landscape Design.  While I think our landscaping has always been lovely, talking with Jim gave me an added boost of confidence that our community continues to be well managed as we make the transition from developer-run to CDD-run.

If you have any questions, Jim can be reached at his office phone at 904-778-1030. Just leave a message and Jim will get back to you.

Hampton Golf Takes Over Eagle Harbor Golf and Pool Management

After 15 years, East West Partners has turned the reins  of the Eagle Harbor golf, tennis and swim amenities over to Hampton Golf. Eagle Harbor Golf Club

Now that 99% of our community is built out, the CDD Board felt it was time for a change and they took the time to research and inquire of the residents via a public meeting to ask and answer questions back in the Spring.

Jim Houston is the new manager. I spoke with him today and he is very positive about joining us. He said his first priority was to catch up on some maintenance in and around the golf club in the way of paint and sprucing up the clubhouse, starting with the restrooms.

Jim has an impressive resume, starting in Ponte Vedra at the TPC and most recently opening Sugarloaf Mountain Golf and Town Club in Orlando.

For more info, call Jim at the Golf Shop at 269-9300 or www.hamptongolfclubs.com.

Eagle Harbor on Fleming Island - Raising the Bar in the Jacksonville Area

It's been almost 20 years since East West Partners' land purchase on sleepy Fleming Island in the Clay County area of Jacksonville, Florida.  Their arrival would forever raise the bar for every community to follow in the entire Jacksonville area and most certainly Clay, St. Johns, Duval counties and Fleming Island as well.  Within four years, Eagle Harbor won the coveted Florida Association of Realtors ENVY Award for its environmental efforts and also the "Best Planned Community in North Florida" by the Northeast Florida Planning and Zoning Council.                                                                                           THE MOTTO OF THE DEVELOPERS.....Eagle Harbor Main Entrance - Fleming Island, FL

"You can live in a resort everyday."

Eagle Harbor Superpool with 110' Waterslide They built the $2.6 million Superpool first, giving Clay County residents a glimpse of what was to come. The 185,000 gallon pool features a 110 foot water slide and is a free form wonder to this day. The pool is 10,000 sq. ft. with one and three-meter diving boards, competition swimming lanes, and a wading pool. There is a playground and a beach with volleyball.

The first homes rolled out the early 90s and the golf course soon followed.  The second water park - the Waterfront Park on Doctor's Lake came with a dock beside it, complete with two pontoon boats available for rent to residents.  The Waterfront Park has an adults-only heated pool, beach entry pool and separate kiddy pool area.

Playgrounds are scattered throughout Eagle Harbor, and an 8 foot sidewalk runs down Eagle Harbor Parkway affording roller bladers, bikers, and walker/joggers ample room to exercise. Miles of sidewalks run through the neighborhoods giving shortcuts for friends, kids biking to school, and walkers who just want a different route today.

There are 2300+ homes and Eagle Harbor has enlarged its borders to include locations south of 220 and west of 17 and 220. I once joked that East West would buy up all the land on Fleming Island if they could!

We have our own monthly 4-color magazine and intranet for residents only on our website. Updates can be received weekly by email and special alerts/events are sent daily or as they happen. Buy and Sell on Worth Avenue on the intranet.

Not content to build a community with superior facilities, including the 12 Har-Tru tennis courts which boast arguably one of the best tennis programs in the Jacksonville area, East West staffed Eagle Harbor so that the many activities one would expect in a resort were actually available.  A Full Time Activities Director and a staff that balloons to 285 in the summer months suport their motto.

The Black Creek neighborhood south of 220 was introduced in 2004 and the third water park  - Creekside Park - built. There are 5 Day Docks for resident use, and dry storage for boats and RVs near the Drs. Lake boat ramp.

The homes range from townhouses from the $150,000s, single family homes from the low $200,000s to million dollar homes in estate neighborhoods and also on navigable water. Production builders and custom builders - there is something for everyone here. Details about homes will be in another blog.

A-rated Fleming Island Elementary School is in the middle of Eagle Harbor.  Clay County Soccer Fields adjoin the school.

We can drive golf carts everywhere in Eagle Harbor (just not into the commercial areas)! Our 18-hole championship golf course is staffed by PGA Professionals. Our Club features a fully stocked Pro Shop and dining facilities.Eagle Harbor Golf Club

Eagle Harbor is a real neighborhood. The residents are very active and friendly. Roger Arrowsmith is a wonderful man and developer who set the tone for this fabulous place to live on Fleming Island in the Clay County area of greater Jacksonville.Mother Jogging with Baby near Eagle Harbor Superpool

Our shopping includes Wal-Mart, Target, Publix, Winn-Dixie, SteinMart, Michaels, Kirkman's, and Kohls, just to name a few.  We have great restaurants. The movie theater is under construction and when we get a bookstore, hmmm, we may never have to leave :)

It's a small thing but indicative of the attention to detail of Eagle Harbor - I never get tired of driving the road through the community. It winds in such a fun way even in my SUV it's great. See for yourself.Eagle Harbor's Winding Road

Now every first class new community in Jacksonville, Duval, Clay, and St. Johns Counties has a waterslide - de rigeur. Eagle Harbor won so many awards for its planning and development that eventually they stopped entering just so other communities could win.

When you come here, you will see for yourself that every single community built after Eagle Harbor has copy-catted and some have tried to outdo the original.

But we think you will find the availability of navigable water, amenities and location of this wonderful place we call home to be something really special.

Communities like Eagle Harbor on Fleming Island don't come along every day.

Check us out, you'll like what you see.
